Deja Vu .... Broadast Dialogue reports today that RTDNA has announced Newstalk 1010 in Toronto has won four 2021 Edward R. Murrow Awards including Feature Reporting, News Documentary, News Series and Continuing Coverage. The win comes only months after Bell Media fired everyone in the Newstalk 1010 newsroom. I say Deja Vu because when I ran Standard Broadcast News, I learned we won the first two ever RTNDA News Network Awards on the same day I was told SBN was shutting down. Congrats to the CFRB news staff. A bitter sweet victory. My advice, if you worked on any of those award winning news stories, spend the money to get copies of the award plaques. It's a souvenir of your success and time spent at the Crown Jewel of Canada's legendary radio newsroom.
