It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since the old 1050 CHUM disappeared from Toronto airwaves for the last time. The station is celebrating a decade since it was re-launched as TSN 1050 on April 13, 2011. Where did the time go? It just seems like yesterday that many of us here were complaining about the move, which, in hindsight, was almost inevitable. (The ratings haven't improved much over those years, but that's another story.)
But the planned celebration of the date didn't go off without a hitch. At least not according to a site that celebrates all things CFL-related.

One thing that 1050 does a damn good job of is scouting and bringing talented production interns and former professional athletes on board, supporting and developing them, then promoting them to permanent positions behind the scenes and on-air.
Today numerous 1050 staffers tweeted out their appreciation for the opportunities they've enjoyed (and without a doubt earned) at TSN over the last ten years.
Imagine if Newstalk 1010 was as good at discovering fresh voices instead of giving listeners the same old roundtable pundits, professional PR experts and former politicians.
