Another Well Known Name Passes

When I first saw the name "Joseph William Sawchuk" in the pages of the Toronto Star obituaries on Saturday, it didn't really register.

And then I read the story of his life. He was better known as Joe Sawchuk, the official scorer of the Toronto Blue Jays for decades, and a man whose name was referenced at least once every home game by either Jerry Howarth or Tom Cheek. "Joe was an official scorekeeper for the Blue Jays, and with over 25 years experience never missed an opportunity to give an error when a cut off was over thrown," reads his official obit.

Another well known name in the media gone. He was 83.
