Surprisingly, there aren't that many big hits that mention actual dates. A few others that come to mind:
Papa Was A Rolling Stone - It was the third of September, that day I'll always remember (Temptations)
Saturday In The Park - I think it was the 4th of July (Chicago)

Neil recognizes that June is the only month with no left-over Boxing Month sales at Tom's place or pre-Christmas music on CHFI and AM-740, and cleverly moved summer to fit the void
