R.I.P. Stanley Burke

Old timers will remember Stanley Burke who read the C.B.C. National news at 11 p.m. from 1966 to 1969.

Mr. Burke passed away this weekend in Kingston at the age of 93.

Re: R.I.P. Stanley Burke

Loads of those folks lived to a ripe old age.  Must be a good job.  I remember Stanley well.  He did what he did... ... ...very, VERY well.  [and he did that back in the bad old days when the news presenters at the Canadian Broadcorping Castration had very little to do with the preparation of the actual 'product'.]

When it comes to actual N E W S these days...rather than merely 'the show'...they still do it better than anybody.  They're not assailed by advertisers who demand that their 'pets' not be messed with... ... ...or exposed... ... ...for who they REALLY/TRULY are.

Ain't THAT unique?  Yeah Stanley.  R.I.P.

Re: R.I.P. Stanley Burke

Stanley Burke hoped to get a job with CBS so he sent them a tape of a panel discussion with CBC correspondents.  Black Rock saw Morley Safer on that tape and hired Morley.  A brief clip was shown on the 60 Minutes tribute to Morley.
