PRINT COVERAGE OF BROADCAST MEDIA

Contributor Paterson 1 has pointed out in the CBC Haters thread that the National Post ran three (3) articles yesterday about the CBC.

Globe 'n Mail readers will be delighted to see two (2) major pieces in today's print edition:

 - on pg. B13 (and continuing on B16) about Bob McCown, although it starts with more about his $10.9 million residence, the wide world of Toronto real estate, than about the wide world of sports, and

 - on pg. O11 Conrad Yakabuski's column addresses the paid content issue

Anyone read the Toronto Star any more?    Now appears go be a good time for it to climb aboard radio/TV's bandwagon

Nothing to do with what you said here, geo. Just think we should have a record of your stuff before it becomes
one of your many deleted posts.

We do. It's our only newspaper subscription. Started reading the Star and Globe at around age 5, mainly the Sports sections in the beginning. Became a Star paper boy (person) at about 11. Nothing wrong with the Globe but we decided long ago to make a choice and picked the Star. They prop it against the front door 7 days a week.

Now appears go be a good time for it to climb aboard radio/TV's bandwagon

Why's that, geo?

=12px<< Anyone read the Toronto Star any more?

An average of about 318,000 a day, according to the latest numbers I have found. Only the Globe and Mail has a higher daily average.

The Globe and Mail and National Post share the rich white right wing male demo and the Sun has the right wing lunatic fringe covered as well as comprehensive coverage of every dog bite that has occured in the city since 1971.

Re: PRINT COVERAGE OF BROADCAST MEDIA

Those who find the paid content topic interesting might want to visit the continuing debate in this morning's Globe 'n Mail letters to the editor (pg. A10 in the print edition)

There's three (3).   Count 'em.

Here's the link to that McCown story. (It's not behind a paywall.)

Bob McCown determined to move on from Rogers and put Toronto ‘on the map’

Meanwhile, the Star featured this story about Sportsnet anchor Ken Reid on the weekend.

‘It changed my life.’ After 20 years, Sportsnet anchor Ken Reid sought help for his mental illness, and was able to be himself again

Re: PRINT COVERAGE OF BROADCAST MEDIA

The CBC paid-content debate continues in today's Globe 'n Mail's letters to the editor including one from Carol Off who states that the CBC "maintains infrastructure to reach 99 per cent of Canadians".

No one is arguing otherwise.    The point is what % of Canadians tune in regularly (to justify a $1.2 billion budget)

Re: PRINT COVERAGE OF BROADCAST MEDIA

Globe 'n Mail today honors the CBC with a "Moment in Time" feature on A2 of the print edition, recognizing that CBC Vancouver went on the air on this day in 1953.

It even includes a beautiful photo of Prospect Point in Stanley Park, although according to evidence indicated by vehicles parked there, the photo, (stated to be from the CBC's own Vancouver archives), was taken in 1957.

Is this an instance where no coverage would be better than incorrect coverage?
