Zoomer magazine did a nice piece on Toronto comic/actor Howie in honour of his 65 birthday yesterday.
He has had a prolific career since his early Yuk Yuk days in Yorkville, with Mark Breslin.
It is tough business as we all know and for a little Toronto kid who went to Newtonbrook S.S. in North York, he did pretty well for himself.
I still liked him in St.Elsewhere...and on AGT too!
Here is more about the man, the myth, the legend aka Howie Mandel

That is a good article from Zoomer. I was never a big Howie Mandel fan, he was ok but not someone I would go out of my way to watch or follow if he was a guest on a talk show.
However, I did really enjoy the special that CTV ran about a month ago on him and reading this article you posted Muffaraw Joe, I now have a different opinion of Howie.
He is a smart guy, and he is funny in a unique way. For some reason I always thought he might have been a hard person to work with or even like as a person in real life.
But on the television special when he went back to his high school and around his haunts growing up in North York, he came across as a likeable guy even down to earth. Old friends and teachers who knew him as a teen were all happy to see him but nobody seemed star struck by him at all. Maybe just the current students at his old high school were a bit excited since they only know him from TV.
It is also nice for him at age 65 that he is enjoying the most success right now in his long career.
