Well, you had to know this was going to happen eventually.
After years of radio stations taking requests for music, CFRB has announced it's set up a new phone number for people to request a talk show topic. At least for now, it's only for the Jerry Agar Show, but if it works, there's no telling if it could be expanded to other hosts.
Here's what the recording, at (416) 862-TALK (8255) says when you call it:
"This is Jerry Agar. Thanks for calling to tell us what you want to hear on the show. First, give us your name and phone number. We won't give out your number, but we might play the rest of the message on air. Then, be clear and be as short as you can. What do you want us to talk about?" BEEP!
Interesting idea and I'm surprised it's never been done before. (Although I'm sure suggestions pour in via texts and emails, so in that way, it's a bit old fashioned. But it DOES allow them to get the audio, which I think is the point.)

That voicemail box will be 90% conspiracy theories

Perhaps, but maybe the other 10% will be 'gold, Jerry! It's gold!'
And really, for it to work, that's all they need.

I wonder if they will have a show concerning cable and/or fibe companies.
A sure-fire topic: Is the C B C worth $34 annually to your household?

Absolutely!!
GOOD & BAD NEWS:
The score is 3 to one, being one no vote + 2 thumbs up for a total of 3 no's. There also is an "absolutely" which is being recorded as a yes vote. However, the question was incorrect and should have stated $34 per person (includes new-born babes in arms), not $34 per household.
So the restated question . . . is the C B C worth approx. $136 per household to you?
NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS PLEASE

Not to nit pick, but according to the 2016 census the average Canadian household size was 2.47 people, so the average charge per household for CBC would be $84 per year.
Is CBC radio and TV worth $84 a year to your household?

It's at times like this I really miss the Stafford show.
The peanut gallery meets Greek chorus mentality of the average caller is unbearable to listen to for the most part, and even fans calling in on sports shows can be 🙄😑😶🥱😴
Staff somehow made talk radio not awful.
Newstalk asking listeners to suggest topics feels like changing things up for the sake of changing things up. "Leave your name and number"...Meh.

Funny this would come up. I was just thinking about him earlier in the day. Is there any update on his condition? The injury he suffered was very serious. I worry he may never be back on the air, which would be a real loss.

That's great news. Greg Brady did OK in his stead, but he's no Stafford.
