CBC Orders Another Game/Reality Show

The reaction to the CBC making a Canuck version of Family Feud was mixed. Some were highly critical, while others thought it was about time there was a Canadian game show.

And now the Corp. is turning its lens towards another game show hybrid. It's a sand sculpture contest being made on the Bay of Fundy called "Race Against The Tide." It will be hosted by old CBC-standby Shaun Majumder.

I'm sure we'll have the same mixed reaction to this one, but at least it's being filmed on a location that's scenic and touristy - if tourim ever resumes. But good luck making the show in the middle of winter!

But the key question remains: will you watch this?

I...I don't know what to think.
I guess I'll have to watch it once and give it a chance, but it ain't no exciting game show.
It's just some ho hum reality competition of some sort.

Re: CBC Orders Another Game/Reality Show

Like any other show I would need to watch it once or twice to see if was any good.  Good luck making the show in the middle of winter?  Huh??  Why would anyone think they would produce the show in winter?   The article says they are in production now.

Re: CBC Orders Another Game/Reality Show

That winter reference was meant as a joke. Obviously, it got washed out to sea - like the sculptures eventually will be. Why? They're obviously not fit to be "tide".

As for the critics? If I were the CBC, I'd tell them to go pound sand!

Yes, I am sure some critics will consider the show to be a bit of  a washout...

Re: CBC Orders Another Game/Reality Show

But all of the contestants, even the host and crew will need to go with the flow...

I wonder if the audience will start doing the "wave?"

Re: CBC Orders Another Game/Reality Show

visions of tossing, from a boat, a person in a life jacket a 1/2 mile off shore to find out if he/she can make it to the high water mark before the tide (with plastic bottles as obstacles... to add a subliminal eco message).
