Again this year Boom 97.3 is playing the top 100 Canadian songs as chosen by listeners on July 1st. The show will be hosted by Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings and morning man Stu Jeffries. The program will last over six hours and starts at 10am July 1st.
Those of us that enjoy Muffaraw Joe's lists of favourite songs some weekends might be interested in this. You can go to Boom and vote for your 10 favourite Canadian songs of all time. They give you a fairly extensive list to choose from, so it isn't totally wide open.
But all is not lost! If there is a Canadian artist or song you think should be included that they didn't offer you can send it to them. What?? Patsy Gallant NY to LA wasn't on boom's list??? We'll change that..and where are my platform shoes?

Listened to bits and pieces of Boom's Top 100 yesterday and I really liked the many stories and trivia bits that Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings related on the show. Some interesting and funny stuff.
I thought the music this year however wasn't as interesting as other years. Looking at the list on the website at the actual top 100 was pretty safe with some artists showing up 4,5,6 times.
But I guess this is what people voted for, so i suppose all songs were legit. Would have been nice to see a bit more variety of artists with a few gems that normally don't get much airplay but were decent hits back in the day.
Anyway good on boom for putting this together, I am going to try and find the Classic Rock Top 100 that ran on some stations.

We’re going to run it again on Sunday as an “encore”.

Thanks Paul. This top 100 has obviously a lot more rock cuts than what was on boom Toronto. But Tragically Hip had 17 songs in the top 100!! Wow, that has got to be some kind of a record for any top 100. This must have been everything from Yer Favourites, their greatest hits compilation. Nice that there will be an encore presentation on Sunday..

Listening to boom's top 100 on the deck with a cold beer this afternoon. Sounds good, Spirit of the West on right now. Really enjoy all the ID's from various artists and the breaks with Randy and Burton. Some funny interesting stories..

I really enjoyed the show. There was no station in Ottawa carrying it so I used my Internet radio to stream and was outside with a great set of speakers rocking. Of all the stories that were told, there was only one I heard before.
But, being in the capital, I was surprised "Signs" didn't make it.
