Why Kitchener’s oldest radio station began in Brantford

From the Waterloo Record comes this bizarre tale of how what's now CKGL (aka 570 News) and used to be CHYM actually originated somewhere else.

The second part of this story is out and recounts what you would be able to hear on the original Kitchener station that eventually moved to Brantford. Plus did you know CKPC used to be on 1010 in its very early days?

I also love the pic of that early studio that really was somebody's sun room and boasts a sign that reads, "DANGER. All wires carry heavy voltage dangerous to life. Don't Touch." Imagine having that in your living room.

Apparently, everyone in the area is doing a short radio history. Here's another one, this time for CJCS Stratford, where Lloyd Robertson got his start and Justin Bieber may have first heard music.
