Why You Won't Be Hearing A Prominent Panelist On NT1010 Anymore

For years, Ed Prutschi was the go-to legal expert on CFRB for interviews about the law and justice and on its frequent Rountables. He was also regularly featured on CTV News during high profile trials. But you won't be hearing his voice in either place anymore. The reason? Prutschi the lawyer is now Prutschi the judge, after he was appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice this month. That means no more media appearances.

According to his Linked-In page:

Mr. Prutschi was appointed to the bench as a judge of the Ontario Court of Justice in April 2020 where he presides over criminal matters based at the Newmarket courthouse.

For most of his working life, he was an advocate representing people accused of a crime. Now he's judging them instead. I often wonder if someone with that background will be more lenient towards accused criminals or more harsh. Either way, it's one voice that will no longer be prominent on Toronto media. His former law partner (not in crime!) Boris Bytenski is now being used more prominently in his place on the Bell Media outlets.
