Could A Network TV Show Have Helped Inspire The Nova Scotia Massacre?

It's been a strange TV season. First the producers of NBC's medical drama "New Amsterdam" were forced to shelve one of their last episodes of the year in which the hospital deals with a sudden and deadly pandemic that results in a surge of dying patients. It was, apparently, too close to reality, even though it was made months before the virus stopped time in the real world.

And now another plot, from CBS' spinoff "FBI: Most Wanted," has eerie similarities to the tragedy that unfolded in Nova Scotia on the weekend, that led to the worst mass shooting in Canadian history. Both involve a rogue police figure having problems with an ex-girlfriend. And even the lead villain in the story has the same first name as the actual killer.

Although it's likely a complete and weird terrible coincidence, The National Post has a story that outlines the strange ties that may just make you stop and wonder.

Re: Could A Network TV Show Have Helped Inspire The Nova Scotia Massacre?

The way the timeline of the actual tragedy unfolded is worthy of a made for tv movie of its own. This week multiple radio analysts have been trying to comment on the mass murders without coming down really hard on the R.C.M.P. and the way the active shooting situation was handled (tweets from authorities to shelter in place but no emergency alert etc) I believe it was Bill Carroll on CFRA who told listeners of the woman who watched the news about the gunman on her television with her family and then went to work and was shot.

I hope Bell, Rogers, CBC and Corus are offering their radio and television talent metal health support because reporting on the Nova Scotia shooting plus the neverending Covid19 pandemic coverage (inject Lysol? really??) has got to be taking its toll.
