Comedian Fred Allen is famous for having said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of television."
If he were alive today, he might have changed that last word to radio.
In the midst of all the endless and depressing Coronavirus news, at least three stations in the U.S. have confirmed they will be bringing back some out-of-season Christmas cheer, by going back to Yule this weekend. The stations, in Boise, Phoenix and Ft. Wayne, Indiana, will be either playing the tinsel tunes during an evening segment or mixing them in as part of various shows.
What's perhaps most surprising is that they're all owned by different companies, which means this wasn't part of a plan by a single station entity.
It's stunting, of course, and in the end, harmless. But whatever you do, don't tell anyone at CHFI! They already start their endless Santa parade in November and I don't want to give them any more ideas!
