In honour of International Women's Day Sunday, NHL hockey broadcasts on both sides of the border will be helmed totally by women. In Canada, Sportsnet's Calgary/Las Vegas contest will have an all female crew, including the announcers.
And in the U.S., NBC Sports Network's Blackhawks-Blues contest will follow the same script.
Women have been in locker rooms for a long time now, and there are a growing number of female reporters and colour commentators, but play-by-play announcing - outside of Suzyn Waldman with the Yankees - is still relatively rare. It's an interesting idea and I wonder if it will only be relegated to a single day in future or become more commonplace.

Thank God she's no Bob Cole! First of all they wouldn't say "Oh baby"...
They are doing great...I don't mind it...and it should become a regular thing!
