Two "Second Bananas" From CBS 70s Comedies Die 24 Hrs. Apart

I might not normally note this here, but the coincidence makes this unusual. Two women who played mostly secondary parts in two classic CBS TV shows both passed away just one day apart.

The first is Kellye Nakahara, who portrayed nurse Kellye on the classic comedy "M*A*S*H." She recalled how she went from an unnamed extra at the beginning of her role to having a name - and even a memorable script written just for her by star Alan Alda, in which she gets to tell Hawkeye off. She may not have been a household name, but if you check the link below, you'll likely know her when you see her.

The second passing came Monday, when Ja'Net DuBois passed away. She played the next door neighbour Willona on Norman Lear's "Maude" spinoff "Good Times." But she might be even better known for what she did off screen - writing and singing the iconic theme song "Movin' On Up" from "The Jeffersons."

Nakahara was 72. DuBois was 74.

I always thought Kellye Nakahara should have had a larger role. She was very good in what little we saw of her.
