December 1st 100 years of Radio in Canada

Missed this one by a few days. Saturday was the 100th Anniversary to what many feel was the first official radio station in the world. Radio station XWA in Montreal began test broadcasting on December 1, 1919. A few months later XWA had the world's first regular scheduled broadcasts beginning on May 20th 1920. The May 20th broadcast was picked up as far away as the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. In 1920 XWA became known as CFCF radio which stood for Canada's First Canada's Finest.
