Ya...They did so at noon [ish].  I was watching Leaf's Lunch on the idiot box.  They  [1050]  still don't strike me as obviously ready to challenge anyone in the morning,,,although getting rid of so-so 'voices' and 'humour' is a plan which was LONG overdue.  I mean wtf?  THAT was never going to work.  Whoever suggested THAT 'concept' should be fired.  Turfed.  Escorted out of the industry.  So we'll give the mornings a chance to develop.

BUT...their new afternoon drive show with gather speed and then quickly nip at McCown's strengths [and weaknesses...like taking WAY too many vacations...cause the show suffers gigantically w/o him]  and when Bob finally steps away for good and takes all of the 'cred' with him...Hayes and the boys will eat Tim and Sid like the food for thought they definitely aren't.  All 590 has is Bob.  The rest?   It's  [extremely]  Tiny Talent Time. 

1050 is now more than just a bit little stronger in the morning with Dave.  Michael may help to provide more there than I can imagine at this point.  They're WAY bigger in drive...and THAT'S when sports really matters.  Mornings?  It's pretty much a rehash.  Nothing much really happens in the morning.

It's the ONLY talk radio I bother with...'cept for news...and I don't mean that repetitive merry go round presentation they 'do' at 680.  [pumpin' up those minutes tuned.]   Like I said in another thread...Rogers radio is pretty much poop.  ['cept for Coop and Bob...and Coop's gone.]

The field is wide open.

"OVERDRIVE WITH HAYES, NOODLES & THE O’DOG"  -- sounds like something from Frasier or Family Guy's Weenie and the Butt.  LOL  I imagine there must be many sound effects involved.

This wont do anything to significantly help 1050...Richards had his chance and could not get it done....moving him to 1-4 is a stop gap measure that probably has more to do with what's left on his contract...he now has one foot out the door...Landsberg's shtick is so 80's it wont wash with anyone under 45...Rogers should have kept Petrillo she was improving as a TV interviewer and considering the 'talent' they have now on their Sportsnet and HNIC telecasts they could use her...I think she's better on TV than radio...it's more controlled, she can prep and/or read a teleprompter...590 still kills 1050...these changes wont help.

Well, there goes the last entertaining Toronto radio morning show. I always liked Mike Richards since I first heard him on 1050 about 30 years ago doing his Dick Smyth parody when they were both on that station, and then on all the other stations (sports and non-sports) he was on through the years since then.

Not that anyone would want three hours of slide whistles and fart sounds, but even that might be preferable to the mind-numbingly dull hockey hoser talk. At least McCown is still on 590 during the afternoon drive, for now anyway.
