Some here may have heard the name Bernard Slade. He was an actor, but was best known as a prolific writer and producer for a slew of U.S. TV shows, after cutting his teeth at the CBC. Among the St. Catharines native's credits: writing 17 episodes of Bewitched and creating the Partridge Family, after becoming intrigued by the real life story of The Cowsills.
The show made a star out of David Cassidy and became something of a 70s touchstone.
He also has numerous well known film and play credits to his name, but it's "Partridge" that defined his career.
Slade was 89.
