. . . that at $9.34/share, Corus Entertainment is a takeover target . . . anyone else heard that?
Not crazy. The amalgamation of the Shaw/Corus media assets certainly makes for a cleaner process.
Will Lou Schizas address the topic (6:55 a.m. tomorrow)?

Family having deep pockets, lots'a moneyed connections + inflated egos. Bankers are looking to off-load underperforming loans these days (and not just tar sands paper)

Exactly. Radio and TV, as we know them, are going to disappear...['cept for LOCAL radio]...over these next few years. There are other choices with more to come for the switched on digital world.
This seems like a poor, if not stupid, investment. It wasn't just money which prompted CHUM and Standard and CTV to GET OUT. It was the picture of losing money futher on up the road which caught their attention. That roadblock is just about one screaching stop ahead for those who haven't already crashed.
No big deal. As programmers most of these 'new-age media moguls' just sucked.

what's that phone number again?
It should be noted that while Rogers is laying off 200 people, their website lists over 300 job positions available. go figure.

And that's the question.
Despite OC's response, anything can be sold if the price is right.
No big broadcaster can under current rules, so....
1) Bell or Rogers buys them, keeping the 'best of' both and strengthening their position in each market. The castoffs are sold to whomever can buy them in each market (Cogeco, Newcap, Vista, Pattison....lots of companies in expansion mode)
2) There are 2nd tier media groups in expansion mode. Cogeco, Vista, Pattison....even MYfm. They could buy most of it.
3) An unexpected entrant. (Telus, Videotron, Cogeco)
4) It's entirely possible that the CRTC will relax ownership limits.

. . . after closing below $9 on February 11, Corus Entertainment closed yesterday at $10.76. Was it mentioned on the Sunday Morning Money Show? Is Lou Schizas touting it? Is the market euphoric that Mike Stafford is back? Time to buy or sell?

Something I have been thinking about concerning Corus, and I think a good fit would be a purchase by DHX Media.
In Television Corus has stations such as YTV, Treehouse, Nickelodian, Teletoon, Spark ect, mainly aimed at kids.
DHX has Family, CHRGD, and Family Jr. again aimed at kids.
DXH could sell off the losing Radio Radio assets and become a Major player in the kids Television market, and they have the money to buy up Corus.
As well both companies already have a working relationship in that Corus runs the Master Control from their headquarters for DHX media.

to Just a Radio Fan: you seem to have a fair amount of insight for someone who presents him/her self as just a radio fan

No insight, just a few thoughts. When the Corus-Shaw merger (?) was announced it just seemed like it was something that might happen prior to a major purchase or sale.
Just became a process of elimination.
Certainly no insider information, just a little speculation. Nothing I would wager on.
As for the Master Control info, just someone I know who pushes buttons and keeps stations from going to black.
