Site Plays Back Memorable Radio Commercials Of The 60s

A station's jingles were probably the most identified branding aspect of any Top 40 format in the 60s, if only because you heard them over and over.

But something else was also repeated frequently and they don't often get credit for being associated with various stations - the commercials, especially the ones that featured their own singing jingles. A website called "pastdaily.com" has put together two separate hours of the spots you probably turned off way back then, but they certainly evoke a time and place that no longer exist. Compare some of these to a "Tom's Place" spot or those irritating "1-800-GOT JUNK" interruptions that make their customers sound like complete dolts.

Not always better, just a very different and old fashioned way to try to sell you something. And those jingles they used may well still stick in your head just like the oldies do. One thing is certain - they don't make them this way any more. Whether you think that's a good thing or not is up to you.
