For those of you who have "off air" reception, WGRZ-HD-2 is now offering the Tonight Show, in 480i. Video quality is excellent, even for those shows that were recorded long before adoption of HD. A schedule for the rest of January is available: The shows are repeated a couple times overnight and through the day. Though some of the episodes are dated, it is worthwhile to see Johnny's comic genius again. The channel is called "Antenna TV".

TVG: Indeed. The announcement that Antenna got the rights for Johnny Carson really put Antenna TV on the map; they recently added nearly 30 affiliates(including Rochester's WUHF 31.2). It should be noted that they only have the rights to episodes produced after 1972...and the reason WHY it looks so good visually is that the master tapes were stored in an underground salt mine in Nebraska(if memory serves). The funny thing is, Antenna doesn't have a West Coast feed(its main competitor, MeTV, does), which is why each episode airs twice a night.

Indeed, those tape were carefully stored 650' underground.
And here the info from the company that took care of them:

It's good to know that after the Apocalypse, cockroaches will have still have Johnny Carson to watch.
