Small-city and rural Canadians could lose their free TV

For now, this just affects Shaw customers in smaller cities - possibly including Kingston in this part of the country. 

But after reading this, I'm guessing Bell and Rogers are watching this closely and praying that one day they can force everyone to either subscribe to their services or lose access to over-the-air Canadian stations everywhere. And remember some of these guys tried to get permission to shut down their OTA transmitters in certain places (I especially recall the outcry when TVO wanted to do it) because it was too costly and they said not enough people were using them. 

I hope the CRTC does not set any kind of terrible precedent when it finally decides on this issue.

I work in the industry and I have never heard of this service.  I suspect very few people have.
