Is this the start of something big?

Lush Cosmetics, in the UK, announced this week that it is "Quitting" social media as an avenue for promotion and communication.

They state they are "tired of fighting the changing algorithms" and will back off of a few social media platforms.

Here is more on this story... (Note the U.S. Lush outlets are staying put with their social media strategies)

My question for the board is, do you feel this will be happening more now that one company (a fairly notable company) is changing how they choose to engage with their clients and consumers?

Are social media outlets "shooting themselves in the foot" so to speak as far as algorithms are concerned and what kinds of content (good and bad) are allowed on it?

I know personally, I dislike competing against the many messages that are in my news feeds already, I prefer to go back to more traditional forms of marketing and connecting to those I work with and market to,

Comment away Big Yella!

Oh and have a good weekend!

The world would be so good if it weren't for some people...

I don't think the "set rules" is the main concern.
What about people like me who have virtually no ads on my Face book page?
Ad blockers should be a larger concern, no?
