Was just reading this on Milkman and it doesn't seem to be mentioned here yet.
Global News is relaunching their morning show in early March, and Jennifer Valentyne will co-host, along with current 11pm co-anchor Antony Robart. It will be called Global News Morning Toronto.
As an aside, didn't they have this a few years back, and ratings sucked, so they aired CHCH Morning Live until Canwest sold CHCH? Actually that must be over 10 years ago, I think Channel Zero got CHCH in 2009. Anyway, back to the story:
A couple of anchor and reporter moves are also mentioned, such as Marianne Dimain joining the morning show as a community reporter. You can read the news from Milkman here:
Here's the thing. At the end of January, also on Milkman, Corus announced the expansion of the national Morning Show to one hour. That isn't mentioned at all in the link above. But for your information, here was the link, once again from Milkman, about the Morning Show extension back in January:
Do you believe they will be keeping both morning shows?

The second incarnation of a morning news program on Global launched in July of 2003, and was cancelled at the end of January 2009.
The current program began in October of 2011 from the former Alliance Atlantis digs on Bloor St.
There will be two shows, Global Toronto will air the show from 6am to 9am with Robart and Valentyne. The "National" edition will air from 9am to 10am.
This is due directly to Crossroads / 100 Huntley St. ending their airtime buy on Global at the end of December 2018.

Yes, Carolyn MacKenzie and Jeff MacArthur will host the National 9am to 10am block.
When Global cancelled the previous show at the end of January 2009, Canwest still owned CH in Hamilton, so they just filled the time block with the CH Morning Live feed. This ended in August 2009 with the sale of CH to Channel Zero.
Global's first morning news attempt was in June of 1978... Global Daybreak... it only lasted for 8 or 10 weeks.... the old Canada AM on CTV was tough competition.
