World’s Richest Media Maven Defends Himself Vs. Alleged Blackmail

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, is not only the world’s richest man, he also owns The Washington Post. As some of you may have read by now, he alleges he was being blackmailed by the National Enquirer, the infamous gossip newspaper.

This is a very sordid story that allegedly involves stolen emails, revealing sex photos (including some infamous dick pics – why do people continually insist on taking or keeping those?) and a lot more.

I gotta give Bezos credit. He used the David Letterman defence and has gotten out in front of this story, by confessing everything he claims he was being extorted over. It was certainly the right and possibly the only way to handle it.

But what a fascinating story! If you haven’t seen it yet, here it is.

But it’s the almost unbelievable blog post that Bezos wrote that is an amazing read. In it, he lists all the evidence supposedly gathered against him, unveils the company’s allegedly threatening emails to expose him exposing himself, and so much more.

One of those missives is said to come from the Enquirer’s Chief Content Officer and lists what they say they have in their possession:

“In addition to the “below the belt selfie — otherwise colloquially known as a ‘d*ck pick’” — The Enquirer obtained a further nine images. These include:

· Mr. Bezos face selfie at what appears to be a business meeting.

· Ms. Sanchez response — a photograph of her smoking a cigar in what appears to be a simulated oral sex scene.

· A shirtless Mr. Bezos holding his phone in his left hand — while wearing his wedding ring. He’s wearing either tight black cargo pants or shorts — and his semi-erect manhood is penetrating the zipper of said garment.

· A full-length body selfie of Mr. Bezos wearing just a pair of tight black boxer-briefs or trunks, with his phone in his left hand — while wearing his wedding ring.

· A selfie of Mr. Bezos fully clothed.

· A full-length scantily-clad body shot with short trunks.

· A naked selfie in a bathroom — while wearing his wedding ring. Mr. Bezos is wearing nothing but a white towel — and the top of his pubic region can be seen."

His blogpost is an extraordinary document, especially coming from a guy who has every resource in the world at his disposal. You can read the rest here.

This story literally has everything – including the owner of the rag, who has close ties to Donald Trump and whose last name is Pecker.

On that front, the New York Post, which has a history of incredible headlines, didn’t disappoint on this one.

Speaking of exposed peckers, has anyone "seen much of" Tony Clement lately?

I don't care if you're the richest guy on Earth or not, that front page has GOTTA sting!  Hope he can afford a decent lawyer.

He can afford an entire court, if he wants! The Post headline is predictably hilarious, but despite its clever wording, it's also true. That's exactly what Bezos did. So there would be no cause for any action on his part.

This newspaper has a history of memorable front page screamers, but probably its most famous came several years ago when a decapitated murder victim was discovered in a strip joint. The headline the next morning has gone down (you should pardon the expression) in history.

I wait breathlessly to hear what the dozens of PR professionals have to say about it in the roundtable segments.

Actually, RB's second Roundtable on Friday had a few such experts on and they all said Bezos handled it the best possible way he could given the circumstances. Does this mean you can breathe again?

This was the lead on NBC Nightly News Thursday night just as it was breaking. Imagine - a U.S. newscast lead that didn't involve politics or Trump! Didn't know that was even possible anymore.

On this side of the border, I was surprised that none of the locals played the unfolding Trudeau scandal higher. It wasn't on CFTO's 6 PM newscast until 22 minutes in. Considering it could portend the end of a Prime Minister's time in office if it proves true, you might think they'd play it a bit higher than that.
