By now you've probably heard about the kidnapping and killing of Canadian mining company exec Kirk Woodman in the increasingly dangerous country of Burkina Faso. From a broadcasting point of view, this story is made even sadder with the news that his son, Matt Woodman, is a reporter and anchor for CTV in Edmonton (and Halifax before that.)
So often, news people cover a story. Very rarely are they personally involved in it, especially in such a painful way. I wonder how the station out there is handling this, given that it hits one of their own.
