Wow Dale, it is a big list...a lot of good people left this past year...may the all RIP and their memories never be forgotten.
I too (Grilled Cheese) would have like to hear what "Spaceman" would have to say in these times.

Also known as: Birth name was Steven Castonguay, born to a British mother and a French-Canadian carpenter father stationed in England, post-WW2
Stations: CFOX Montréal, CFTR Toronto, CKGM Montréal (4 different occasions, 1970s and mid-'80s), CHAM Hamilton, CKTB, CJQR, CHTZ St. Catharines, CHVR Pembroke, CJMO Moncton, CKXL Calgary, CKNG Edmonton, CIMA Vancouver
Notes: Had radio school and broadcast consultancy in Montréal for many years. His final radio project saw him fulfilling a lifelong dream of having his own radio station when in 2013, he became the Owner/CBO/GM/Programmer/Morningman/Salesman and Janitor of tiny FM outlet CHLW, Barriere, in the B.C. interior. Died of cancer four days after his 71st birthday, at St-Jérôme Hotel Dieu Hospital in the Laurentians region of Québec

Well isn't that a kick in the nuts
Steve was a talented fun loving guy - he broke me up on air once or twice
Tossed a huge phone book at me while I was on the air
Fucking thing was thicker than War and Peace and landed with a thud
Steve thought it was hilarious but I can assure you mangement was NOT impressed.
RIP Steve old buddy

dale, i'm somewhat shocked as i see murray john's name on the list. for some reason, i never came across the news (i guess a rock makes for a challenging roof). murray, along with the late john sprague, are the reasons why i ended up co-hosting talk 640's weekend "paid" programming (for 5 years until the creation of "mojo radio"). murray was a great guy and i have no doubt he is greatly missed.

I worked with 14 of the radio people who passed in 2018 and knew quite a few others at CHUM, ROgers and Telemedia. Sad to see so many good ones gone. Thanks for keeping track of them all Dale.

Just noticed that this happened in late December. And while he wasn't a radio personality, per se, his work was certainly ON the radio for many years. Ray Sawyer, the lead vocalist of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show - the guy with the eyepatch that helped inspire the group's name - passed away just before the end of 2018.
Among the group's hits in the 70s: "Sylvia's Mother," "Spending The Night Together," "Just A Little Bit More," "I Got Stoned And I Missed It" and "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman."
But the group's most famous song, perhaps, was "On The Cover Of The Rolling Stone" and it seems only appropriate that the magazine was one of those that published his obit. You can read it here.
