I'm not a big fan of Coast-to-Coast AM, which airs here on CFRB. But I do admire this - unlike just about every other radio station in North America, the show has pledged to provide live and original programming on Christmas Eve, Christmas night, New Year's Eve and Jan. 1st.
This is the way it used to be back in the days when radio was considered a 24-hour a day full service entity. (In fact, I recall hearing some old CHUM airchecks of Bob Laine's overnight show. Not only did it have an hourly newscast, but sports updates and a ski report!)
I thought that era was gone for good, so it's nice to know someone isn't caving in to the old "best of" repeats or canned "old time radio" canard that everyone else seems to do when Christmas looms.
