Bell Media honcho Randy Lennox was one of the guests on Roger Ashby's final CHUM-FM morning show Wednesday and finally let the cat out of the bag about what the longtime morning host's next project will be. He'll be behind a new iHeart Radio streaming service being planned for the new year, with Ashby choosing all the music.
What kind of music will that be? Hard to say yet, but Ashby has already acknowledged he isn't always crazy about some of the music he's played over the past few years on CHUM-FM and has a fondness for 60s and 70s tunes. While I doubt Bell would ever sanction an oldies streaming service, it will be interesting to hear what he chooses when the service debuts sometime in 2019.

It's going to be a channel on the iHeart app, which already has a slew of Oldies streams, including 50s 60s and 70s specific decade channels.

I was at the event this morning. It was especially great to see old CHUM & CHUM-FM friends; from years gone by. Also good to see Brian Williams, Randy Lennox and my oldest Toronto friend Geets Romo. Duff was there as well. David Marsden.
Call it a wonderful joke; but very, very early this morning as Roger was planning to leave his house for the event and waiting for a limo, a bus pulls up to is house. Loaded with some of his best pals; from the CHUM years. They all took the event to the Sheraton. Great thing to do for an old friend. As someone said, to me, "I don't think Roger's neighbourhood has ever seen a bus drive thorough it."

BDS says Pink - Raise Your Glass. Didn't hear the broadcast so I don't know it it was selected to be celebratory, or just what would have played anyway.
