Toronto Star.com Permanently Closes All Online Commenting
Announcement was made on Wednesday morning. Obviously, they're fed up with having to monitor this stuff, watching for hateful or libelous posts. But it's just too bad they didn't leave it on the linked article, so readers could comment on the move!

Good. It unfortunately ended up with the same fecal content result as this 'free' posting experiment turned into a few years ago.
Toronto Sun was the worst, Toronto Star was getting bad, and the National Post was somewhere in between.
It does bring up an interesting issue though, being I firmly believe that people, especially in larger Urban areas, don't really 'believe' a lot of the politically correct regimen they spout. They end up sounding like the Newspeak experts at CBC.
Anonymity allows people to express what they truly believe without worry about being judged.
And then there are the trolling shit disturbers who just like yelling fire, knowing they probably won't be caught.
If you must spout your anonymous bile, install Tor and go to town on some of the truly hateful forums. torontosun.onion is probably a good place to start

Interesting take on how the US Republican candidates are hiding behind the fact that they don't cater to PC and putting forth all kinds of radical ideas.
