The Man Who Really, Really, Really Loves Top 40 Radio - No, Really

This isn't a local story but I couldn't help but smile all the way through it. It's about a British man who loved radio so much, he established a "station" in his backyard shed, using discarded WABC jingles, and broadcast his output to just one audience member - his wife listening on a single speaker in the family home.

But what's really remarkable about his dedication is that he's been doing it for an incredible 44 years! Those are almost Roger Ashby numbers! (If only they'd had a Live 365 or the Internet back then...)

There are two videos embedded in the linked BBC article and the black and white one from an old BBC TV show is a must see, giving you some idea of what he's been up to all these years. It's very charming and you know what? As they might say in the U.K., he and his mates weren't 'arf bad.

The concluding video shows how, after more than four decades of literally toiling in obscurity to an audience of one, he's now going to get a chance to speak to a whole lot more than that.

This won't be the biggest story you'll read today. But it just might be the one you remember most.
