Everyone knows about the 1938 Orson Welles classic, but fewer may be aware that back in 1968, then Top 40 giant WKBW aired its own version.
The updated radio play was hailed as a masterpiece and a documentary about how it was made and the people involved in it debuts at a theatre in Buffalo on Halloween night. Channel 17 will be showing a 30 minute version of that movie at midnight.
Among those being interviewed are a host of local legends from radio in that era: creator Jefferson Kaye, Irv Weinstein (who “dies” while covering the alien invasion) Sandy Beach, Dan Neavereth and more. Definitely worth a watch for those who love radio history and fondly remember KB.
