It was a sad goodbye after the death of its founder Richard Irwin, but ReelRadio.com, the original aircheck site on the Internet dating back some 23 years, appears to be back up and running. It's not being updated, so there's nothing new per se, but the hundreds if not thousands of airchecks that were there originally are mostly back up and playing. (I think you can leave new comments on its board, however.)
I'm not sure if registration is still required or if they let newcomers do that, and I have no idea who's behind this resurrection, but for as long as it lasts, it's a welcome (back) addition to the world wide web. And next to Dale Patterson's always excellent and weekly updated Rockradioscrapbook.ca, it's a condensed history of modern Top 40 radio as practised by the best people who ever did it.
There are no guarantees, but I hope it's here to stay for at least another quarter century!
