Free Documentary On Radio Waterloo Now Online

It won't be everyone's cup of tea but if you have any fond memories of either CKWR or CKMS in Waterloo, you can revel in a nearly 2-hour documentary on the stations and their struggles to survive. From the Welland Tribune:

"Radio Waterloo" tells an intriguing story that includes the origins of both CKWR FM 98.5, the first English language community radio station in Canada, and CKMS 107.3, which began as the third student-run radio station in Ontario..."

"Both CKWR 98.5 and CKMS 107.3 are still very much alive — as the film shows, miraculously, given all the challenges they've had to face. What a long, strange and rocky road it has been — 40 years for CKMS, 45 for CKWR."

 Radio documentary a fascinating tale

Re: Free Documentary On Radio Waterloo Now Online

Thanks for this, RA.  I was involved with them in the late 70's/early 80's and was disappointed that I was unable to attend the premiere of the doc a few weeks ago.  I was hoping that it would become available on-line eventually.

It was great to see some familiar faces telling their stories.
