Indie 88 Rock station of the year.  Because they play 3 more different songs than the rest of the Alt Rock world?

Can you elaborate on that?

RadioWiz & RadioQuiz are NOT the same person.

The only award CHFI deservesis for being a good money making machine. They program pablum.  It works.  It sells well.  That’s the extent of it.  And it’s blessed by a skewed ratings system that is a definite help to its success.

Life is so unfair.

Mike, with genuine respect towards you, Life IS so unfair. Due to a fractured Numeris system, real numbers are way out of whack. Hell, in another thread, 'ol Num cancelled surveys in some markets due to low penetration. Here's a genuine "hmmm" question, outside of office/store environments, how many people REALLY have FI as their P1? Or in their car? Let's parse this: in office/store ecosystems, who is manually filling out the diaries? Some clerk? The secretary? Janitor? Sure, there are other measurement appliances that will monitor frequencies, but who in those offices/stores is authorizing the readings? Hmmmm.

Why "life is so unfair" is because there ARE quality stations out there worthy of an ear or two that don't see the numbers strength due to a lack of a number of factors.

These awards mentioned in this thread are based on what? Ratings? Flawed ratings? Self-congratulatory emptiness like being the smartest kid at the r*****d table in an institution.

Sorry, I don't have time to deal with this, at the moment. We've just been notified that minutes ago, I've been awarded my TripAdvisor New Reviewer Badge and 100 points for my Wendy's critique.

Julie James: Music Director at CHFI.  That's like winning "chef of the year" while working at Wendy's.
All things Virgin Radio Kitchener:  This blowtorch still hasn't pulled in the numbers of 91.5 which has no signal.  Huh?
CHFI station of the year = McDonalds, Restaurant of the Year
Indie 88 Rock station of the year.  Because they play 3 more different songs than the rest of the Alt Rock world?

Good awards:

Garner Andrews Sonic 102.9.  A truly interesting and unique personality (least he was when I lived there)
Christian Hall, PD, X92.9.  He's managed to make it work and be interesting though
Music Director, Scott McGregor of 98.1 The Bridge Lethbridge.  A uniquely programmed radio station in a place you'd never imagine and it works.

I would add that like most awards it's a select few who choose based on votes sent in from a relatively small pool. This is not to take away anything from those who have won but are we really to believe that  most of the best radio in the country is in Toronto as these results suggest? The references above to stations in other parts of the country who are deserving but not recognized is a testament to that.
