I'm curious why so many stations are pushing their listeners to stream on Iheart when they also offer a Listen Live leanstream on their own website? Wouldn't the station want to attract traffic to its own site instead?
can anybody provide some insights?

Part of the agreement to be on the app is that you give it some promotion. You want to be on the app because you want to be absolutely everywhere people might look for you. The apps also have the advantage of being available on car dashboards, TVs, watches, etc.

Rogers has done away with many of their websites. Search for a Rogers Rock station, and you won't find a website, but a link to the station on the Rogers streaming app, Seekr.

Online!
Not all stations are on Iheart.
All rogers stations are on seekr and also on radio player Canada.
Stingray and corus stations are on both iheart and radioplayer.
And the cbc has CBC listen and there networks are also on radioplayer.
The only ones that are not on Iheart or radioplayer are small stations such as classic 1220 and sauga 960, amung others.
I don't know why there not on iheart or radioplayer, but they have there own listen live links or buttens on there websites.
Also, CHIN's not on iheart when other ethnic outlets such as CJMR and CHLO are.

Using CHEZ 106 as just one example, Seekr at least looks like a website. (or web page)
