It does not happen that much when a vote out of Alberta will have a big interest in the rest of the country, but tonight is the night.
They are counting the ballots by hand so it could be a long night.
It all beings at Midnight in Toronto. It will give 680 news something new to put on the air. Also will 1010 and 640 simulcast the tv feed from CTV and Global.
I will not be up, but it should make for some interesting programing.

CBC and Global will be anchoring their referendum specials out of Edmonton tonight, and CTV (and possibly Citytv) will do their shows out of Calgary.
This will also be the first broadcast where Global’s Toronto control room will be doing a live election broadcast for the network’s Alberta stations.

Some polling places in Alberta have extended their hours until 10 PM local time because they opened late. That means there won't really be any major results coming in until at least past midnight, and likely no official tally for a day or even two.
I feel sorry for those on TV trying to ad lib their way through this for hours on end, with no real numbers to refer to.
It's going to be a looooong night for the pundits and the crews.

I watched until around 12:30 and there were no results yet. Apparently one/some of the voting stations ran out of ballots and had to wait for some to be delivered, thus delaying all results being tallied. Woke up early this morning to find out the results and I’m a happy camper that Albertans voted to stay with Canada, but I don’t think we’ve seen the end of this!
