The Big 89 lives again! At least for 120 minutes.
A two hour celebration of the station's glory days as a Top 40 giant will include some former jocks who worked there when it was a music outlet. Among those taking part - former morning legend Fred Winston, along with Lyle Dean and Jeff Davis. And of course, there will be other audio blasts from the past.
"Producers Ted Gorden Smucker and Bill Shannon have again assembled a rich collection of audio clips, classic airchecks, and memorable moments designed to remind listeners why WLS and its personalities meant so much to generations of Top 40 radio fans."
"WLS Unwound" airs from 8-10 PM (our time) Sunday night and can be streamed online at the station's website.

WGN beat its talk competitor to the punch with a great half hour interview with former WLS morning man Fred Winston, just inducted into the Radio Hall Of Fame.
In the half hour chat, the veteran jock recalls his first radio job, how he was hired at the Big 89 and some of his best and worst moments in a long radio career - including something extremely filthy he kept saying on air without even knowing it.
Hear it here.

I missed this when it aired earlier this month and was hoping someone would put it up online.
Now someone has.
