A Very Strange Radio Commercial Pitch

I just heard a spot for an insurance company warning listeners against going with a firm that uses A.I. to predict liability and other rates, because "A.I. can make mistakes."

Fair enough, I've seen it get a lot wrong. But it's the name of the place offering this advice that makes me wonder if they listened to their own copy. After warning about A.I. for half the time, they reveal their name: IA Insurance.

Yes, the group warning you about A.I. is called IA.

Talk about a mixed message. Don't trust A.I. but only trust IA? This can do nothing to confuse anyone hearing this commercial.

IA, by the way, stands for Industrial Alliance Group - something they never say on air.
