The Price Is Right Downsizing After 55 Years

It's hard to believe the Price Is Right has been on the air for 55 years, and still does well in the ratings. But after more than five decades years on air (it started as a half hour show in 1972), inflation has finally caught up to the highest bidder. Turns out it costs a lot of money to store all those prizes and sets, and the show has had to move somewhere else and spend less for the rent.

When it finally returns to the air for season 55, you may not notice those changes but you will probably see this - they've also cut the audience down from 300 sitting in those chairs to just 128. That will not only make the wide shots stand out showing fewer people, but greatly increase the odds of those present being called to Come On Down.

‘The Price Is Right’ to Undergo Another Season 55 Change for ‘Cost-Cutting Measure’

Not the same since they left Television City. But they tried their best to recreate the Studio 33 layout when they moved to Haven Studios. Glad the ratings are strong.

Re: The Price Is Right Downsizing After 55 Years

I wonder where City TV's Price Is Right Tonight is taped.  They seem to have a fairly large studio and a good sized studio audience. Maybe it is done at CBC studios or one of the many film studios in the GTA?

I believe it's taped at The Fallsview Casino OLG Stage in Niagara Falls. That theatre is capable of holding some 5,000 people, although I'm pretty sure there's not that many there when the City TV version is being shot!

As I understand it, the show is taped at the CBC building on Front, and the Casino show is the live interactive theatre experience.

That's where I thought it may have originated from.  I know City has used the Fallsview Casino stage for a few other shows like Canada's Got Talent and promoted it as such.  Global has used CBC facilities for a couple of shows like their short lived version of Deal or No Deal.

Same with Family Feud Canada. They use the same stage as The Price Is Right Tonight.
