I wondered when the Emergency Alert would interrupt all programming on radio and TV in the city. It finally happened about 5:01 PM.
My neighbour's patio covering over their deck is now partially in my backyard. Fortunately, my TV antenna is still standing! But it was amazing to watch.
I guess we all know what the lead will be on the 6 PM local news...

One thing that kind of surprised me - these kinds of conditions, thankfully rare though they are, often spawn amazing DX conditions. I tried, but there was nothing special happening on the FM dial where I am.

My phone has gone off twice in the last half hour with the threat of an approaching tornado here in the KW area. Looking at the weather radar we could get smacked at about 6pm. Almost like night, the sky is getting real dark. We had some sunshine about an hour ago. Lots of thunder but only light to moderate rain so far and not windy. Rain has just picked up.

Huge winds and large hail here in scarborough earlyer.
I was listening to 680 news for updates, and you know where some silly people were? at the ex.
Why would you go to the ex today?
I was safe in my home, things have calmed down but there's still thunder.

Sad part is, you guys nolonger have a news radio station to tune to in the event of an outage.

I could bairly get any ams when I was scanning with my portable radio, thankfully, I got 680, but I also got CHTO cleer but I only caired about 680 and I was not woreyed about dxing.

This kind of weather is made for 680. It's when they really get a chance to shine, because they can concentrate on the storm and nothing else, with continual updates - including that another storm is coming right behind this one.
I'm just glad the lights are still on at my place!

Wind has died down for now and also the heavy rain. Pretty intense for about half an hour but the power hasn't gone out and no hail. Lots of heavy rain and very windy earlier. The system was travelling at about 90km per hour through the region. CTV Kitchener says the tornado watch for our area has been lifted but the severe thunderstorm advisory still on.

All the major Buffalo stations interrupted the network news to cover the storm and tornado warning for their city.

Northwest Mississauga, we got a half hour or so of heavy rain, thunder and lightning between about 6 and 6.30 pm. A few spotty showers since then but everything seems to have passed now.
We did get several emergency alerts between 5 and 6 pm.

I was lucky to not lose power during yesterday’s storm but I must have got 4 or 5 emergency alerts in the space of two hours, a record here but thank god for radio. I have the street’s drains at the end of my driveway, and I’m responsible for keeping them cleared, so I got wet a couple of times yesterday. Hey, we’ll be whining about the snow before you know it!

I was driving on the 400 near the 407 when the storm hit. Wind, rain and hail, not a fun ride. 680 did there best, but with an area the size of the GTA its hard to know what area to cover first.

No outages all night, apartment's not fludded, and 680 news was on-air all throughout the storm, so all's good here in southwest scarborough.

I tuned in 680 mid afternoon yesterday and it was very noisy due to the intense lightning. They actually remarked on this problem and were suggesting listeners use the Seeker app to listen. No mention of also having a presence on CKIS-HD2. Hmm..

I've noticed the stations in Toronto with HD subcarriers never, ever mention them. It's pretty apparent that they've all given up on the great HD experiment in favour of online. Too bad. I like those extra channels.

My hd radio is a pluggin one, so during the main part of it where hail was comming down, I did'nt want to touch anything electrical in feer of getting electricuted.
And who would think of using an app during a storm?
The app won't work during an outage, so we just got to put up with the noise if our power was out.

I always check to sea if anyone's added anything new and different on hd, so far, nothing new or special, not even from stingray or indie 88.

I'm just learning this now.
It was NOT advertised, but due to poor weather conditions, the $13 after 5 deal applied to all day.
That being said, assuming it was a surprise at the entrance, and not an advertised thing.

You are still correct to assume everyone there are die hards that would have paid full price anyway, being the fools they are...unless a large amount of the people there showed up on PURE word of mouth to enjoy at a deeper discounted admission.
Still, I agree, what a bunch of fools!
*Because this is a radio board, I'll be even more specific to say nobody actually said on the radio "Go to the EX today for only $13 all day..." Everyone was far more busy saying "Stay indoors!!!"
