Yeah, I have a SERIOUS problem with West doing this.

It will not surprise me if CP24 takes her off any election related stores for the time being.

Editorial Boards are mostly anonymous. Plus, they don't report. Everyone knows who Liz West is. How can she now credibly cover the race?

A "news" organization/publication should not be endorsing a candidate, period. How does that not taint their credibility?

You literally just TODAY made a post lamenting the current lack of radio newscasters providing commentary!

Her age and gender have nothing to do with it, and I'm pretty sure you know that.

The people I was referring to were labelled as such. Jack Dennett, for example had "News & Comment" clearly stated in his intro.  Same with the others I mentioned.

Open The Toronto Star and you'll find columns visibly labelled "Opinion" as the first thing you see, even beyond the headline. Those writers, like Rosie DiManno, are defined right from the start of their articles as being non-objective. They do not write straight fact stories and often take sides. 

From the Star's Glossary page.:

"Drawing a clear line between news and opinion has long been one of the Toronto Star's core values. Broadly defined, news is based on the impartial reporting of facts while opinion is based on personal interpretation and the judgement of facts."

And then there's this:

"Opinion articles are based on personal interpretation and judgment of facts. Opinion journalists have wide latitude to express their own views, subject to standards of taste and laws of libel including views directly contrary to the editorial views of the Star."

Liz West is hardly being impartial. She's an achor/reporter and therefore expected to play things straight down the middle and not pick sides. She cleary picked one in that post. 

I'm told it's Dave Cadeau and he spent 10 years at Sportsnet, including as P.D. of The Fan 590. He was also on air there, as well.
