CTV Unveils Its Fall Line-up
It consists of the usual suspects - a lot of American imports, the NFL, and some CanCon. Not to mention Saturday Night Live, which should prove interesting to see where the local news goes at 11:30 PM that night.

Could it be that CTV will just give those stations in the Eastern time zone the night off for news and not have a late cast? What happens to the simulcast on CP24? Interestingly, CFRB simulcasts the entire 11PM-12AM hour every night, with the exception, for some reason, of Saturdays.

My guess would be Bell's massive streaming and marketing advantage.

I find it interesting that Global's fall preview chart of its new and returning shows doesn't even bother listing any shows on Saturday night at all, which has sadly become a dead zone for nearly all broadcast TV.

You seem to forget that CTV cancelled all local weekend newscasts in most of the country a few years ago, so Saturday night at 11:30 won't be a problem. One less rerun of Corner Gas.

You're right. But there's still the question of what happens in the largest market in the country - Toronto - where they still do an 11:30 PM newscast seven days a week. Or does it join most of the rest of the nation and just scrap it altogether?

My guess is it will continue to be aired on CP24. Most TV packages have that channel now.

The new fall season is pretty much a non event. FOX in the US has no new fall shows. CBS and NBC only a few. In fact CBS didn't even bother hosting an Upfront presentation this year. The Upfronts are a gala presentation to advertisers and media promoting the new fall lineup. CW only has one new show courtesy of Global with the new Private Eyes: West Coast.
It seems to be that the more interesting new season in television is now in January/February even March. This is when the networks get another chance to bring in new shows and they do. Most of these will be shorter series, maybe 10-13 episodes. CTV and CBC also have a habit of introducing new cancon series during this time frame.
