Some Great Free Tubi Documentaries You Need To See

A friend alerted me to a documentary running on Tubitv.com, the free streaming service available in both the U.S. and Canada.

One of the shows he pointed me to is called "When We Went MAD," about the history of Mad Magazine and how many big names you know who were influenced by it - including Weird Al Yankovic, Jerry Seinfeld, Bryan Cranston, Howie Mandel and Howard Stern.

The doc examines the magazine's origins and its effects on future show biz types who grew up on it. If you were a fan back in the day, it's worth your time. And because it's free, as the cover always used to say, it's Cheap!

You can find it here.

Another potentially worthwhile look back at the past involves the TV series M*A*S*H, a 90 minute retrospective that, as its title says, is about "The Show That Changed Television." It features interviews with ex-cast members and behind the scenes looks at one of the greatest TV shows in history - and its finale remains the highest rated non-sports program in TV history.

That one is here.

There's also a series of other docs called "The Decade You Were Born." One highlights the 60s, while the other is for those born a decade later in the 70s. There's also a 50s version. another from the 40s, and a look back at the 80s. It goes in one year and out the other.

Some or all may be worth a glimpse if you're looking for something to watch this weekend.
