Jose Diaz-Belart has been a workhorse for NBC. In addition to anchoring their Spanish newscasts on company owned Telemundo in the U.S., he’s been sitting in the air chair every Saturday night on NBC’s Nightly News.
This weekend, he celebrated his 10th year in that position and the network surprised him during the show’s closing moments with a heartfelt honour that took him by surprise. It began with the network’s main anchor, Tom Llamas, admitting he would not be where he is today without “JDB”’s help, and was followed by tributes from a large number of NBC reporters.
Not something you see every day, and it was nice to watch such a touching tribute. You can view it here.

I think it’s great when this type of thing happens, somewhat of a rare occurrence. His colleagues said some very nice things about him and I think it caught him off guard! Thanks for posting RA.
