Copper wire thieves threaten internet, TV, even 911 access, Bell warns

This is 2026 and Bell can't figure out how to screw the thieves over by using alternatives to copper or at least using a larger mix of alternatives to copper, making the stolen "copper" worthless?

All the better reason to create something that works just as well, replacing the copper with either a worthless copper/other mix or a full replacement for Copper.

They have gotten rid of copper piping in the plumbing business.

Why not make it illegal to buy used copper from "questionable sources"? YES - I know. Policing would be next to impossible. But at least have such a law on-the-books in case of need? Maybe just the existence of such a law might discourage the practice. It's at least worth a try, imho.
