CBC Radio's Pitch To Other Stations For Their Programming

Did you know that in addition to all the shows they produce here, the CBC tries to sell that massive output to other stations around the world? It's all contained on a page called "CBC Distribution, which lists all their major programs, in the hope other stations elsewhere will buy them to play in their countries.

"CBC programs are distributed to hundreds of public radio stations in the United States, Australia, and France. This includes major U.S. markets like New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Boston, Seattle, Phoenix and Minneapolis-Saint Paul."

Among the shows on the list: As It Happens, Q With Tom Power, Day Six and Under The Influence.

See Their Pitch Here.

It’s not uncommon at all for public radio. CBC has acquired shows from American and European public media.

Some of their overnight programming comes from other public broadcasters, e.g. "New Yorker Radio Hour" (NPR/US), "Science Unscripted" (Radio DW/Germany).

When we're in Florida I often listen to CBC programs on our local NPR there.

After all is said and done, more is usually said than done.

How many shows from commercial Canadian radio have been picked up for rebroadcast on foreign outlets in the past seven years?

In the commercial radio world, it’s syndication, and most of the programming flows north.
