FOX in the US has been having great ratings with their World Cup coverage. But they reportedly are a bit ticked at the large number of English speakers in the US that are watching games with Spanish commentary on Telemundo and Peacock, both owned by NBC
People that don't speak Spanish or have limited comprehension are enjoying Telemundo's style and excitement as compared to FOX. Peacock has also been broadcasting all games in Spanish with a direct feed of Telemundo's coverage. And the fact that the two networks don't go to commercials during the hydration breaks is a plus for many. Are Blue Jays TV games available in a different language? A break from motor-mouth Shulman would be a nice change.

Hahaha, the Simpsons bang on again! TVA Sports broadcasts about 81 Jays games in French during the regular season.

It’s very common for Spanish speaking households to identify as English speaking. Especially lately…for some reason.

Telemundo is also available over the air in the US and have local O&Os and affiliates that produce local news. Some of the O&Os in bigger markets bunk with their sister NBC O&O station, and NBC has been cross promoting Telemundo's coverage on the local and national newscasts. In some markets, Telemundo is also the #1 station, regardless of language.

It's TV, you're watching the game, if you understand it, you don't need an announcer explaining every detail like you only play Ludo.
There's no 'play by play' in the stands, no close-ups, no replays other than the stadium screens. I completely understand this. Adds an entirely different flavour and excitement to the game, even if you don't understand it, and you can follow along simply by watching the idiot box. Would you rather watch a Argentina V. France in Suit & Tie English or called by Andrés Cantor.
Years ago, we did a show on the surprising number of people who listen to music or whatever as they're watching the game, especially in a group situation. Like a bar, I guess
