World Cup Beverage Breaks?

There’s something new about this World Cup, and not everyone is happy about it. FIFA have introduced what they call a hydration break about 22 minutes into each half of the game. The only problem is that soccer doesn’t have breaks, only at halftime and fans are not happy. They see it as another “gouging” move, as most broadcasters are using it as a commercial break. They also feel that the game’s momentum is being affected.

I prefer it without the hydration/commercial breaks, although I’m sure the players appreciate it. The general verdict is not favourable, but somehow I think FIFA doesn’t care as there’s money involved.

Re: World Cup Beverage Breaks?

Fans are starting to react to this “Hydration Break” and not in a positive way. It was discussed on Moore in the Morning today and the fan clips they played were not positive, it kills the momentum of the game in a common complaint. Still, it provides two commercial breaks for the broadcaster which I’m sure they appreciate, have to pay FIFA big bucks somehow! I still prefer no breaks…..
